Vision

Through the implementation of a comprehensive and effective quality assurance system, INTERNAL QUALITY ENHANCEMENT CELL (IQEC) aspires to be recognized as a leader in terms of innovation and creativity in the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, helping to raise the quality assurance in university and achieving international standing.

Mission

To achieve the Vision above, the Mission of IQEC shall be as follows:

  • To implement international best practices in all areas of work of the University.
  • To develop and implement systems for ensuring a rich learning experience for students, and an intellectually vibrant environment that supports and enhances the academic and administrative performance of the University.
  • To promote measures for accountability through self-reflection, peer review, continuous quality enhancement and internalization of a quality culture.

Teaching & Learning

  • A competitive student recruitment system promoting equal opportunity and diversity.
  • Use of a variety of teaching methodologies including experiential learning.
  • Collecting student feedback (Teaching and Learning Feedback Questionnaire) mid semester and at the end of every semester for all courses, for continuous improvement of courses and programmes.
  • Mentoring systems in Schools to help and support students.
  • Implementation of Outcome Based Teaching and Learning (IOBTL).
  • Development of common goals in the form of Graduate Attributes.
  • Carefully considered student assessment policies, guidelines and regulations.
  • Teaching Excellence Awards to promote reflective and quality teaching.
  • Deans of schools also conduct Focus-group meetings with students to collect feedback and student opinions on matters relating to the academic programme.
  • Use of external advisory boards consisting of eminent academics and professional experts from leading universities and other organizations from other countries.

Graduate Attributes

The traits of the university’s graduates, who are expected to realize their full potential as leaders in a globally competitive environment, are the main product of the university’s efforts and the centre of its activity. The Academic Council of the University has therefore adopted a clear statement of Graduate Attributes designed to: give students a sense of direction by outlining the key components of their programme of study; to help students make lasting contributions to their experiences; and to inform stakeholders, including potential employers, of the qualities to be expected.

  • A deep knowledge of subject areas in the programme of study they have successfully completed.
  • The capacity to engage in self-reflection and lifelong learning.
  • The capacity to take up their social and civic responsibilities relating to the environment and the society.
